On Wednesday June 26, David St Croix from West Wycombe School won ‘Teacher Of The Year’ in the Buckinghamshire School Awards.

David is a remarkable teacher who has led his Year 6 class to excel in all areas. He has instilled a growth mindset culture in his classroom, where children who were previously struggling have made rapid progress and caught up with their peers.

David hosts before and after school tuition because he knows the children appreciate this help and will thrive with the extra support.

He is not only an effective teacher, but also a caring and kind one who knows his students well; he writes them personal letters at the end of the academic year to celebrate their progress, praise their achievements and thank them for their hard work.

"We’ve had children from years ago come back to see him and they always mention how they’ve kept and treasured their letters," said Ed Tang, Headteacher.

"He is a vital part of our school community, from coaching the football team, serving lunch and covering duties to helping his fellow teachers plan lessons and mark work. He makes everyone feel happy, safe and supported in what is a very challenging job.  Many parents have chosen our school so that he will teach their children."

Mr St Croix was so humbled by the experience, and said the following statement to thank everyone for congratulating him in such a heartfelt way.

Mr St Croix said the following statement in recognition of the award.

He said "The event was indeed a night to remember – the organization, venue, and atmosphere were all exceptional. I was particularly impressed by the uplifting speeches and inspiring messages shared throughout the evening. It was a heartwarming reminder of teachers' incredible impact on their students and the community as a whole.

"This award is of particular significance to our small school. It celebrates our achievements and reinforces our commitment to providing our students with the best possible education. It serves as a testament to the dedication and passion of our staff, and it will motivate us to continue our work in shaping the minds of future generations.

"I am incredibly grateful for this opportunity and cannot thank the Buckinghamshire Schools Awards team enough for the support, encouragement, and recognition. This award holds a special place in my heart and will always be a reminder of the incredible community and team that I am privileged to be a part of."
