Ben Degg walked off with the man-of-the-match accolade after a brilliant performance set Cheadle 2nd XI on their way to another victory in NSSCL Division One.

The Moorlanders reached the halfway point of the campaign with eight wins under their belt after defeating Rode Park & Lawton at the weekend.

Degg was in imperious form with the bat in the first half of the match as he struck 96 to form the backbone of his side’s 198 all out.

Degg’s innings contained 12 fours and two sixes, with Jake Mills also contributing a half-century.

Mills compiled 55, including nine boundaries and one maximum, while Trent Stirk, Jacob Mountford and Jack Harrison all captured two wickets.

Rode Park & Lawton’s aspirations were ended early on as Degg’s 5-22 saw them reduced to 63-8.

Stirk offered some late resistance with 52 not out, but the visitors were eventually bowled out for 128.

Ryan Elwell and Jack Winfield also claimed a couple of wickets apiece, but there was little doubt it was Degg’s day.

Leaders Bignall End barely broke sweat in banking the points from their home clash with Barlaston.

Barlaston were on the ropes after tumbling to 41-8 in the formative stages of the match.

A ninth-wicket stand of 42 between Ethan Squire (31) and Ethan Smith (15) temporarily stopped the bleeding, but Barlaston were skittled for 88.

Aunn Shah and Ade Lello scooped 5-38 and 3-28 respectively, with Niall Hassett pocketing a couple of scalps.

Smith struck twice in reply, but they were Barlaston’s only successes as Bignall End swept to victory inside 13 overs.

George Harding top-scored with 46 not out after Jon Maskrey had chipped in with 23.

Sandbach are lurking in third place heading into the second half of the season after thrashing rock-bottom Meir Heath.

Half-centuries from Ben Collett and Sean Manning paved the way for Sandbach to pile up 210-8 from their 50 overs on home turf.

Collett struck six fours in his 66, with Manning’s 51 featuring three boundaries.

Jawad Ahmed (24no) and Saeed Ali (23) were also in the runs, while Dale Heath took 3-25 for the visitors.

Meir Heath never looked like challenging that score and they were bowled out for 86.

Farrhuk Javed (26) top-scored, but three wickets apiece for Ali (3-22) and Jack Collett (3-23) did the damage. The other scalps were shared by Manning and Nathan Lewis.

Porthill Park seconds banked the spoils at their Hem Heath counterparts.

It was hosts Hem Heath who took first use and generally impressed in sticking 192 all out on the board.

Usama Sajjad Dar made 52, including nine fours and two sixes, with support forthcoming from Matthew Rogerson (47) and Nazakat Ali (26).

Wily spinner Adam Ralphs was the pick of the Porthill Park attack, finishing with excellent figures of 6-27.

Porthill Park weren’t fazed by what looked like a stiff target on the resumption.

And they managed to cross the line, winning by five wickets, in the 47th over of their chase.

Blake Blumeris (43), Dan Hancock (42), Jake Plummer (26no) and Mathew Guest (23) made the decisive contributions for Porthill.

Hem Heath saw Ben Topley and Ben Lucas share four wickets.

Oakamoor won by the same margin in their home clash with Stone SP seconds.

John Cheadle and Sam Butters made 28 apiece in Stone SP’s 152-9 from their 50 overs.

Rashmika Mewan took 3-18 and there were double strikes from Paul Hammersley and James Smith.

Oakamoor romped to the winning line after tea, having 15 overs unused in the process.

Mewan was at the forefront of that rapid chase, hitting seven fours and three sixes in his 71.

Joe Avery and Tom Sherratt weighed in with 39 and 20 respectively, while there were a couple of scalps for Jack Harvey.

Endon had the better of their home draw with Blythe.

Oliver Rogerson’s 80 underpinned Endon’s 202-9 declared at Post Lane.

Rogerson’s innings contained 13 fours and one six, with Dan Bailey (26) and Andrew Sibley (25) also starring.

There were three wickets apiece for Peter Finch (3-33) and Chris Gask (3-43).

Gask then compiled 56 in reply, striking 12 fours, but Blythe had to be content with a draw as they closed on 173-9.

Josh Reynolds helped himself to 4-38, with Jack Chell taking two wickets.
