Ben Platt Says He 'Cried a Lot' Seeing Britney Spears Perform at His First Concert: 'I Got Really Overwhelmed'

The Emmy, Grammy and Tony winner recalled watching Spears and *NSYNC in concert with his sister as a young child

Watching Britney Spears live in concert was a lot for Ben Platt to handle as a young child.

During a new interview on The Jennifer Hudson Show, the Emmy, Grammy and Tony winner recalled getting emotional seeing Spears perform on stage at his first-ever concert.

"When I was like, I want to say, 6 or 7 I went to see Britney Spears with my older sister, who was like 10 at the time. She was obsessed with her," said Platt, 30, adding that *NSYNC also performed at the show.

"The only two things I remember were — first, I was like, ‘Those boys is cute,’ and the second thing was, like, I cried a lot ‘cause it was really loud," explained the Parade star.

"I was very young, and I didn’t expect it to be such a wall of sound," added Platt. "I got really overwhelmed, and I couldn’t really take it in, but at least I saw Britney."

The "Cherry on Top" singer, who's currently performing a concert residency in support of his new Honeymind album at the Palace Theatre in New York City, also told host Jennifer Hudson about one superstar who attended his run in Dear Evan Hansen on Broadway: Beyoncé.

"She was lovely and gracious, and I can’t believe she took the time to come and say hi," said Platt of meeting the "Texas Hold 'Em" icon backstage at one of his performances.

"I started the run of the show not wanting to know when people were there," the star explained of celebrity attendees, "but then I kept spotting people by accident, and it was taking me out of it."

"So, I was like, ‘Why don’t you just tell me up front, so I have all the info? Give me a list every night.’ So, I did know she was coming — and even if I didn’t, I would’ve figured it out quickly, ‘cause she was sitting on the aisle, and she’s got unbelievable hair," said Platt. "You just see the silhouette of it, and you’re like, ‘That’s her. That’s Beyoncé.’”
