ITV has finally confirmed the date that Ben Shephard and Cat Deeley will start hosting This Morning.
After Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield left the TV show last year, Shephard and Deeley were named the new hosts last week. Shephard will therefore be departing Good Morning Britain (GMB) following a ten-year run.
Deeley and Shephard are among the guest hosts who have since Willoughby and Schofield’s exit.
They will now front the Monday through Thursday shows as the new primary presenters starting next month.
When does Ben Shephard and Cat Deeley start on This Morning?
On Monday, March 11 at 10am, Shephard and Deeley will present their debut programme together. The ITV live programme will go on until 12:30pm.
"Breaking news, just in, I can reveal that Ben Shephard's debut on This Morning... will be Monday, March 11, right here on ITV!" said presenter Richard Arnold on Good Morning Britain.Shephard said: "I thought I had another week off,"
The 49-year-old, who has been presenting GMB for ten years, finds the later start time, which airs from six to nine, to be quite pleasant.
Shephard, who was joined by Kate Garraway and Andi Peters for his final programme, described the early wake-up as "horrible".
He said: “The alarm going off has never been anything I’ve enjoyed but what I have known is that as soon as I get in here I’m going to be surrounded by you brilliant, incredible, gorgeous, talented, challenging, chaotic, annoying, fabulous people who make me better what I do.”
As well as GMB, Shephard fronts the ITV quiz show Tipping Point and has hosted Ninja Warrior. He’s also no stranger to This Morning, as he has joined Willoughby on the sofa to replace Schofield during previous absences.
This Morning was referred to as a “national institution” by Deeley, who became well-known for hosting the Saturday morning ITV children’s show SM:TV Live alongside Ant and Dec and its spin-off music programme CD:UK with Willoughby.
