Benidorm star Crissy Rock has been rushed to hospital with a throat abscess that is causing her intense pain.

The actress, who plays Janey York in the hit sitcom, was taken to Liverpool Aintree Hospital, where she is currently being treated.

Rock has since taken to Facebook to share an image of herself hooked up to a cannula, and she says she’s never been in such intense pain.

She captioned the image: “In Aintree hospital. Got Quincy (a pus infection behind the tonsil). Never felt a pain like it. I couldn’t swallow or drink anything."

Updating her fans after doctors were able to drain the abscess, she said: "To the doctors and nurses at aintree hospital, thank you for looking after me. Draining the abscess of my throat was a tad painful, but the relief afterwards outweighed the pain.”

Rock has previously had issues with her health, having being diagnosed with cancer of the vulva in 2000.

Thankfully, she was given the all-clear after undergoing surgery in 2011. She then went on to join I’m A Celebrity... Get Me Out of Here!

Speaking about her diagnosis, she said on Loose Women at the time: “When the doctor said cancer I actually looked around thinking, ‘Who’s he talking to?’

"And then, the reason it wasn’t detected is because normally women go for smear tests, but I had an hysterectomy when I was 24 and I didn’t think I needed a smear test."
