Sometimes after a long day at work, you don't feel like spending hours in the kitchen cooking dinner or even getting ready to go out for a meal. That is why many of us opt to order in a takeaway as a treat with Chinese food being one of the UK's favourite takeaways.

CambridgeshireLive asked our readers to nominate their favourite Chinese takeaway in the county. We narrowed down the choices to just the top five and our readers voted to help crown the best in Cambridgeshire.

This year, Chinese New Year will be celebrated on Wednesday, January 29. If you don't fancy getting out and going to an event, why not order in a Chinese takeaway to get into the spirit of things?

If you are new to the area or want to try a different takeaway, these three recommendations as voted for by our readers might be a good place to start.

3. Golden Wok

Coming in third place is Golden Wok on Histon Road in Cambridge. The takeaway's menu is filled with a range of dishes from noodles to soups with a few tofu and vegetarian options if you don't eat meat.

Reviewers online have praised the takeaway for its 'prompt delivery', "great portion sizes", and 'tasty food'. Golden Wok is open for lunchtime at 12pm to 2pm and reopens for dinner at 4:30pm until 10:30pm on most days apart from Tuesdays when it is closed and Sundays when it is only open for dinner.

2. The Welcome Chinese

With both an eat-in restaurant and takeaway option, the Welcome Chinese in St Ives would suit anyone's tastes. The restaurant's menu has a lot of choices in terms of its dishes but if you are struggling to decide on what to eat, there are a few set meals for only £24 per person that will help you to narrow down your options.

If you prefer to sit in and enjoy a meal, the restaurant has its normal menu on offer and a buffet, which is available everyday for £28 per person. The Welcome Chinese is open from 5:30pm to 10:30pm on Tuesdays to Saturdays and 5:30pm to 10:00pm on Sundays.

1. The Black Bull

You probably wouldn't expect to find a Chinese takeaway in an old British pub but the Black Bull in Longstanton says it is "famous for [its] Chinese food and for reasonable prices". Aside from being a takeaway, the Black Bull also has a sit down restaurant and a beer garden to enjoy a meal outside in the summer.
