As the weather begins to warm up and the skies brighten, our minds naturally drift towards thoughts of sandy beaches. In Lincolnshire, just a short(ish) drive from Nottingham, there are many stunning spots to choose from.

Some will be familiar to many, including the tourist trap beaches of Skegness, but others are a bit more hidden. Sure, they might not have donkeys, go-karts and a massive theme park, but if you're after somewhere peaceful to relax in the sunshine before the next inevitable downpour there are plenty of good options.

To help you decide where to head for your next beach day, users of 'the beach guide' have ranked the top five Lincolnshire beaches.

Anderby Creek Beach

This hidden gem is nestled between Chapel St Leonards and Skegness to the south, and Sandilands and Mablethorpe to the north. With its expansive stretch of sand, it's the perfect spot for long walks and offers a peaceful retreat away from the usual tourist crowds.

Mablethorpe Town Beach
