Bethnal Green stabbing: Mother pays tribute to ‘blue-eyed boy’ son killed in street fight

The devastated mother of a man stabbed to death in a street fight paid tribute to her beloved “blue-eyed boy”.

Jack Hague, 38, was one of three men killed in separate attacks across north and east London over the bank holiday weekend.

The Metropolitan Police were alerted to fighting on Corfield Street, Bethnal Green at 8.20pm on Sunday.

Officers attended and found a Mr Hague with a stab injury.

Despite the efforts of officers and paramedics, he sadly died at the scene.

A murder investigation was launched and Mr Hague’s next of kin informed.

In a tribute, his mother said: “His smile was amazing - he was loving, funny, giving of his time and loved being Uncle Jack to his niece and two nephews best of all.

“He is my son, my blue-eyed boy and will live in me until the day I die.”

There has been no arrest and enquiries continue.

A post-mortem examination will take place in due course. Relatives continue to be supported by specially trained officers.

Detective Chief Inspector Neil John, leading the investigation, said: “Jack’s family are understandably devastated by his murder and we will continue to support them over the coming weeks and months.

“My team of experienced detectives are working tirelessly to apprehend those responsible for this heinous attack and I am still keen to hear from anyone who could help progress out investigation.

“If you were in the area around the time of this incident, or have doorbell or CCTV footage that may have captured events, then I would urge you to get in touch immediately.”

Meanwhile, a 42-year-old male died after suffering stab injuries at a property in Cranstons Gardens, Highams Park at about 9pm on Monday.

Baimolda Beibit, 37, of the same address, has been charged with murder.

He appeared at Thames Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday, where he was remanded to appear at the Old Bailey on Friday.

A 33-year-old woman, arrested over the incident, has been released on bail pending further enquiries.

At 12.30am on Tuesday, a man in his late 50s was stabbed to death at an address on Millicent Grove, Palmers Green, Enfield.

In the same incident, London Ambulance Service treated a 16-year-old boy for stab injuries.

A 21-year-old man, known to both victims, detained on suspicion of murder and causing grievous bodily harm remains in custody at a north London police station.
