Beverley Callard tickled I’m A Celebrity viewers by revealing she had a “no farting” rule on Coronation Street.

The actor – who has played Liz McDonald on the cobbles for 30 years on and off – shared her unusual rule as the female celebrities pondered what their rice and beans diet would mean for their digestive systems.

During the chat, which aired during Saturday’s round-up show, some of the ladies said they were nervous about “keeping trumps in”, and Callard told them she would be less than impressed if it happened near her.

“In Coronation Street, Charlie (Lawson, who played on-screen husband Jim) and I had a rule, no farting on the McDonald set,” she told them.

Journalist Victoria Derbyshire chimed in: “Very good inside Corrie intel.”

“We had none of it,” said Callard.

Blogger Giovanna Fletcher wanted to know if anyone had crossed the line for that to become a rule.

Laughing, Callard said: “If they did I would probably have chinned them!”

Talking in the Telegraph, the star said she really was not a fan of flatulence.

“If I did it, I would die,” she said. “I would cry with embarrassment. Truly, I just can’t stand someone else doing it, unless it’s by accident.”
