BGT 's Ashley Banjo breaks silence after wife split

Britain's Got Talent favourite Ashley Banjo has discussed his priorities after separating from wife Francesca Abbott last year.

The ex-couple share children Rose and Micah, and first met each other as teenagers before Banjo's dance troupe Diversity exploded on the UK scene.

He told The Daily Mail: "At the end of the day, for me when it comes to life my children are my priority and looking after my family and my babies and making sure they're happy and their lives are good is number one.

"Now they're old enough, my children enjoy watching BGT performances on YouTube, they always get up Diversity performances and they want to watch their daddy, which is super cute, and I love watching the old performances with them."

Banjo, whose Black Lives Matter routine caused something of a storm three years ago, also spoke of keeping up with what each new series has to offer.

"I watch BGT like a lot of people watch TV shows: in bits on streaming platforms as and when, as opposed to sitting down on a Saturday. The boys were catching me up yesterday on a guy that set himself on fire while solving a Rubik's cube and I just couldn't believe it," he recalled.

"The show still has so much magic and it's a really big outlet for talent."

Further along, the star also hailed new BGT recruit Bruno Tonioli, after he replaced David Walliams this series.

"He has high energy and is one of those larger-than-life characters and I love that about the judges on the panel," Banjo said.

"You have these four people reacting on behalf of the nation, so when you have such a big character like Bruno it's always going to add energy and fun to the show."

Britain's Got Talent airs on ITV1 and ITVX.
