Britain's Got Talent fans thrilled by Alan Carr replacing David Walliams rumours

Alan Carr is rumoured to have been drafted in as a replacement judge for David Walliams on Britain's Got Talent, thrilling fans who are hoping the story is true.

The comedian and Chatty Man chat show host is reported to have been snapped up by ITV1 for the talent show when it returns later this year.

Britain's Got Talent's judging panel had remained the same for 10 years, with comedian and children's author Walliams joining Simon Cowell, Amanda Holden and Alesha Dixon.

However, after insulting comments he made about contestants surfaced late last year, Walliams was reportedly dropped from the line up and fans have been eagerly awaiting an announcement on who will take his place.

Various news outlets are reporting that Carr has been confirmed, although there is no official statement yet from ITV or Britain's Got Talent about who will be on the 2023 panel.

The potential line-up would be a popular one, as one person tweeted: "Alan Carr on #BGT may actually make me start watching it again…"

Someone else wrote: "Alan Carr on BGT I’m definitely watching this year!"

Another fan added: "Oh yessss this is brilliant news! Alan Carr is one of my favourite comedians and I am excited to see him as a judge on #BGT he will be so amazing."

Carr's casting would make sense as he would fill the comedian spot on the panel and is also close friends with show veteran Holden.

He and Holden have recently launched a new BBC show, Amanda & Alan's Italian Job, in which they do up a run down holiday property in Italy.

The Guardian revealed a leaked transcript from comments Walliams was said to have made to his fellow judges during filming in 2020, which he believed was off camera.

He reportedly said of a female trying out: “She’s like the slightly boring girl you meet in the pub that thinks you want to f*** them, but you don’t.”

“She thinks you want to f*** her, but you don’t,” he allegedly added.

The comments were apparently picked up by microphones.

Walliams has apologised, saying in a statement: “I would like to apologise to the people I made disrespectful comments about during breaks in filming for Britain’s Got Talent in 2020.

"These were private conversations and — like most conversations with friends — were never intended to be shared. Nevertheless, I am sorry.”
