Big-name Potteries Centre store shuts as sign comes down

Big-name retailer Lids has ended its troubled stay inside Stoke-on-Trent's main shopping centre. Lids sells American sportswear and had been open in The Potteries Centre, in Hanley, for more than two years.

But last year The Potteries Centre had to issue a statement after shoppers complained that the shutters were down on the unit. The Potteries Centre blamed the issue on 'shorter trading hours due to internal logistics'.

But the store has now closed for good - with its sign taken down.

It is a further blow for The Potteries Centre which has already been left reeling by the closure of Superdry, The Candle Shop, Topshop, Topman, Dorothy Perkins, Evans, Miss Selfridge, Peacocks, Poundland and the Body Shop among others in recent years. The two anchor stores - last occupied by Next and Debenhams - also remain empty.

StokeonTrentLive has approached The Potteries Centre for a statement following the latest shop closure.
