'Big Snowflakes' Blanket Central Illinois

Heavy fell over parts of central Illinois on Friday, March 3, while wind gusts of up to 70 miles per hour were recorded, the National Weather Service (NWS) said.

Video released by the NWS office in Lincoln shows “big snowflakes” falling.

The weather service said strong winds reduced visibility and caused difficult driving conditions in some areas. Local media reported that over 2,200 customers had been affected by power outages in central Illinois. Credit: NWS Lincoln via Storyful
