Biker airlifted to hospital with serious injuries after crash near Pickering

A motorcyclist has been airlifted to hospital with serious injuries after a crash in North Yorkshire.

North Yorkshire Police were called at 2.30pm on Thursday, June 20, to the crash on the A170 near Sinnington, between Kirkbymoorside and Pickering. The crash involved a gold E-Class Mercedes and a grey and orange KTM motorcylce.

Both vehicles were travelling towards Pickering at the time of the crash. The rider of the motorcycle was a 51-year-old man from Middlesbrough who was airlifted to hospital with serious injuries. The two occupants of the Mercedes suffered minor injuries.

North Yorkshire Police said: "A motorcyclist was seriously injured in a collision on the A170 on Thursday 20 June.

"The collision happened at around 2.30pm near Sinnington between Kirbymoorside and Pickering. It involved a gold, E-Class Mercedes and a grey and orange KTM motorcycle both of which were travelling towards Pickering.

"The rider of the motorcycle a 51-year-old man from Middlesbrough, was airlifted to hospital with serious injuries. The two occupants in the Mercedes suffered minor injuries."

The road was closed to allow the emergency services to deal with the casualties and to allow investigators to inspect the scene. It reopened at 9.30pm on Thursday night.
