Billie Eilish Was Made For Costume Designers Guild First Vanguard Spotlight Award
Billie Eilish was made for this. The Costume Designer Guild will present its inaugural Vanguard Spotlight Award to the Oscar winner and current nominee at its 26th CDGA gala this month.
The new honor celebrates a trailblazer who sets new standards in their sphere, not only for their outstanding achievements but also for their courage as a visionary that serves as an inspiration to us all, per the guild.

The “What Was I Made For?” singer-songwriter, who won the Best Song Oscar for the title tune from No Time to Die two years ago, will be feted during the guild’s 2024 awards show on February 21 at NeueHouse Hollywood.
Throughout her still-young career, the 22-year-old Eilish consistently has used her platform across the touring, music video and events sector to highlight and celebrate innovative designers who continue to push the envelope in fashion, the CDG noted. Whether it’s encouraging major fashion houses to go fur-free or wearing upcycled and sustainable designs for a better world, Eilish always has prioritized ethics and incorporated her beliefs into her looks, while remaining true to herself and never compromising her image.
Eilish is hot off a Song of the Year Grammy win for “What Was I Made For?” from the megahit film Barbie, an award she shared with her brother Finneas O’Connell. They performed the track, which hit No. 1 in the UK and topped the U.S. Rock & Alternative Songs chart, during the show. It was her seventh career statuette and his eighth.
The track also is up for Best Song at next month’s Oscars and won the Golden Globe Award last month.
Eilish’s two albums — When We Fall Asleep, Where Do We Go? (2019) and Happier Than Ever (2021) — both top charts in the U.S. UK and around the world. She also has had four Top 10 singles stateside, with “Bad Guy” hitting No. 1 in 2019.
The 1,200-members Costume Designers Guild, IATSE Local 892, will name a host and other honorees for for its 26th CDGA ceremony in the coming days.
