During an interview on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon this week, the Grammy winner updated fans on the creative process for her upcoming third album, revealing the project is "almost done."

Earlier this year, she teased the new album in an interview with The Cookout. "There is lots of music coming," Eilish told the outlet at the time. “There is a whole album of music coming. We’re in the final stages of making it, so that doesn’t mean it’s about to come out, but it is getting there, and it’s very exciting.”

Until she officially launches into a new era, the "Bad Guy" singer has been riding the wave of her latest hit, "What Was I Made For?," released earlier this year for Greta Gerwig's Barbie film.

Elsewhere in Eilish's The Tonight Show interview, she spoke about crafting the cinematic ballad, which peaked at No. 14 on the Billboard Hot 100 and earned five nominations at the upcoming 2024 Grammy Awards.

“It was so, actually, random how this came about,” she said of the song. “I remember there was a moment last year where Finneas came to me and was like, ‘Dude, would you want to make a song for the Barbie movie?'"

Eilish recalled feeling confused before eventually getting on a "friendly and casual and cool" phone call with Gerwig and Ronson. "Greta basically walked us through the stage they were in and kind of told us about it," she said.

After watching early footage from the film, Gerwig encouraged Eilish to follow her instincts in regards to creating a song for the film: "She was like, ‘If you’re inspired that’s great and if you’re not that’s totally fine.’ And we were like, ‘Shut up. Tell us what you want us to do!'"

The musician then spoke to how "What Was I Made For?" has resonated with audiences since the release of Barbie. "I felt like it brought women together in this way that I feel like I haven’t felt part of like that and it made me feel really good," said Eilish. "And I also felt like it was bringing people together. It felt like we were all experiencing the life experience, you know?"
