Former TOWIE star Billie Faiers has accused veteran presenter Phillip Schofield of being “rude” during an on-air interview about her wedding.

The reality TV star told OK! Magazine she was left “in shock” after being quizzed about the cost of her Maldives wedding by Schofield on This Morning in March.

Faiers appeared alongside her sister, and fellow TOWIE star, Sam and discussion turned to her luxury wedding to Greg Shepherd at the opulent Kuramathi Resort.

Schofield challenged her on the cost of accommodation at the resort, theorising that 100 guests for a week would yield a bill of £229,000 and that the 29-year-old “must have got a deal”.

Faiers has now accused the presenter of “trying to insinuate that we got the wedding for free” in a joint interview with Shepherd.

“I was in shock,” she said. “Prior to our appearance, I’d been very clear that I don’t talk about money. It’s rude and it’s nobody’s business but ours.”

She added: “They were trying to insinuate that we got the wedding for free, which is so far from the truth.

“We saved for our wedding for years.”

Shepherd quipped that they “should ask Phillip Schofield how much he earns”.

During the interview, Faiers said that the cost of the lavish ceremony “wasn’t quite” what Schofield had suggested, while Sam stated there was “not much of a deal” offered to them.

Schofield has found himself in the thick of controversy over the last few weeks, after he was alleged to have blocked Amanda Holden from taking over as his This Morning co-host while Holly Willoughby fronted I’m a Celebrity... Get Me Out of Here.

Jon Roseman, former agent for Schofield’s previous co-host Fern Britton, described the 57-year-old host as an “arch manipulator” with a “stranglehold” over This Morning.

Schofield has said he has been the victim of “hurtful and wildly untrue stories” about him.

Faiers appeared in the first 18 series of The Only Way is Essex, which aired between 2010 and 2016.

Since departing the popular series, the mother-of-two has appeared alongside her sibling on reality show The Mummy Diaries.
