Billie Lourd is returning to American Horror Story.

The actress played Winter in season seven, Cult, and will return to Ryan Murphy's horror series as it films its as yet untitled eighth season, according to Deadline.

She joins returning Cult cast members Sarah Paulson, Evan Peters, Adina Porter, Leslie Grossman, Cheyenne Jackson and Billy Eichner.

Previous American Horror Story alumni Kathy Bates will also rejoin AHS for season eight, which also welcomes Dynasty legend Joan Collins in a "glamorous" role.

American Horror Story season eight will begin shooting in June and be set 18 months in the future, with showrunner Ryan Murphy promising the series will reflect the surrealism of American Horror Story's early seasons.

"It's not necessarily as real and grounded as the past season," Murphy said previously.

"We're sort of getting back to Asylum, and Coven. That's the tone of it."

There are also unconfirmed rumours season eight will be titled Radioactive and that Joan Collins' secretive role will actually see her play the grandmother of Evan Peters' character.
