Bingley Festival gives major update on event's future after doubts over 2024 edition

Bingley Festival has issued a major update on the event’s future after doubts over the event return in 2024.

In recent years, the popular festival, which has been held at Bradford & Bingley Rugby Club, has welcomed big names such as Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds, Pixies and The Libertines among others. Many will be disappointed to discover the event will not be happening this summer.

The organising team have cited ‘financial challenges’ as one of the issues behind the decision. They aim for the festival to make a comeback in 2025.

In a statement, the Bingley team said: “Our loyal friends, it'll come as no surprise, but with a heavy heart, we must announce the difficult decision to postpone Bingley Festival until 2025. After months of work planning our return this summer, the rising costs of running the festival have made it nearly impossible to deliver the event in a way we envisioned and you are accustomed to.

“In order to ensure the festival's future, we have chosen to take a year off to plan for an exceptional event next year, which will be part of the Bradford City of Culture 2025 celebrations. This decision was not taken lightly, and we have exhausted all options to welcome you back in 2024.

“Unfortunately, many events face similar financial challenges in these unprecedented times, resulting in several other independent festivals postponing their events recently. With your continued support and our commitment to delivering exceptional line-ups, we aim to shape the future of Bingley Festival.

“Thank you for standing by us, and we look forward to seeing you next year. Please subscribe to our mailing list for exclusive updates on the new date, the line-up and ticket releases. Your patience will be rewarded. Team Bingley.”

On social media, we’ve seen some people react to the news. On Facebook, Jenny Thompson said: “I really hope we do see you in 2025.”

While Dryston Furby added: “We’ll miss this in 2024. Here’s hoping for 2025.” Chris Firth added: “Great little festival in a great location. It will be missed this year. Hope everything gets sorted for next year. Look forward to it.”
