Yahoo News Bird Box star knows how their character survived after going missing
Note: Contains spoilers for Bird Box.
If you started 2019 obsessing over Netflix's Bird Box, you're probably left with a lot of unanswered questions about the movie.
The main one being, what happened to Lucy and Felix?
Well, allow actress Rosa Salazar (who played Lucy) to give her theory on the couple's fate, which we're choosing to believe for now.
Explaining her thoughts on how Lucy and Felix (Machine Gun Kelly) managed to survive after they disappeared into the night, Salazar hypothesised to The LA Times: “Alcohol makes you temporarily insane; drugs make you temporarily insane.
“What if the whole movie these two were on acid, or mushrooms, and [survive] because they’ve altered their state of mind?”
And Salazar's theory also perfectly sets up the couple for a sequel. “Then you have this story that’s True Romance meets Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas," she said.
"Only it’s Fear and Loathing in Bird Box, and because they are so resourceful, this punk rock combo in love, they manage to make a life and survive."
But Salazar isn't the only one to have addressed the fate of Lucy and Felix.
In an interview with People, director Susanne Bier was asked what she thought happened to the couple.
"I think [the grocery store] was their plan, but we don’t know!" Bier said. "I think that that’s where they wanna go, but I actually think it’s quite exciting that we don’t know exactly where they went."
Bird Box is now available to watch on Netflix.
