Birmingham is set to bask in more sunshine over the coming days. But the Met Office warned hayfever sufferers that pollen levels would be high.

Forecasters said conditions would be dry with some very warm sunshine for the West Midlands from today, Monday, June, 24, tomorrow, Tuesday, June 23, and Wednesday, June 26. Temperatures could hit 27C.

Rain showers are then likely from Thursday, June 27, the Met Office warned, before "brighter, fresher weather" was expected for Friday, June 28.

In a forecast for the West Midlands, the Met Office said: "Today: Any early morning low cloud and mist will readily lift to leave a fine day with variable cloud and some very warm spells of sunshine. Pollen levels will be very high, with high UV levels too. Maximum temperature 26C.

"Tonight: It will be a warm and dry evening with some late sunshine on offer. Clear periods are likely overnight, although some low cloud and mist is likely to reform later. Minimum temperature 14C.

"Tuesday will be another mostly fine day across the region, with light winds and further spells of very warm sunshine developing after a grey and misty start in places. Maximum temperature 27C.

"Outlook for Wednesday to Friday: Wednesday should continue largely dry with very warm sunshine. A small chance of a shower. Rain likely moving through from the west later Thursday, introducing brighter, fresher weather for Friday."
