The seat of Birmingham Hall Green and Moseley has been won by Labou as the results for the area were announced in the UK General Election. Tahir Ali secured 12,798 votes in the safe seat - winning with 30.8% of the vote.

Independent candidate Shakeel Afsar came second with 7,142 votes, leaving Ali with a 5,656 majority. The seat - previously named Birmingham Hall Green - was renamed this election after constituency boundary changes, and has been held by Labour since the 1990s.

Much like in other areas of the city, voters spoke of a 'lack of faith' in Labour when BirminghamLive visited the area, but neither of the three independents standing in the seat were able to cause an upset - including controversial activist Shakeel Afsar. In April, Tahir Ali was forced to deny claims made in a radio broadcast that he was in talks to defect to the George Galloway-led Workers Party.
