Birmingham New Street trespassers on tracks halt trains in and out of station

Trains in and out of Birmingham New Street were temporarily halted due to trespassers on the tracks. Passengers fumed as they were caught up in the rush-hour delays.

West Midlands Railway said it happened between New Street and International services. Passengers reported the trespassers had been removed by British Transport Police.

Taking to X, formerly Twitter, West Midlands Railway posted: "#WMRNEW - Trespassers between Birmingham New St and International Services running through the area may be delayed, cancelled or altered.

It later posted: "#WMRCLEARED - Line reopened between New St and International. Services will continue to be delayed whilst we resume normal service." One rail user fumed: "All trains were stopped in and out of New Street due to trespassers. Been stuck for ages."
