Yahoo News Blackpink’s Lisa to Co-Headline 2024 Global Citizen Festival
Blackpink’s Lisa is joining the 2024 Global Citizen Festival lineup.
The 27-year-old rapper and singer will perform as a co-headliner of the music festival, the presenting organization announced Tuesday morning. She joins previously announced headliners Post Malone, Doja Cat, Jelly Roll and Rauw Alejandro.

Actor Hugh Jackman will host this year’s festival, which is put on by Global Citizen, the world’s leading international advocacy organization on a mission to end extreme poverty. The star-studded concert will take place on September 28 at the Central Park Great Lawn in New York.
The 2024 Global Citizen Festival marks Lisa’s first solo festival performance. As a member of the K-Pop supergroup Blackpink, Lisa and her fellow group members (Jennie, Jisoo and Rosé) headlined the 2023 Coachella Valley Music And Arts festival. The four-piece girl group, formed under Korean entertainment company YG Entertainment, were the first K-Pop act to headline the festival.
“Lisa is not only an incredible performer, but also a powerful advocate, leveraging her voice and platform to drive action on some of the most urgent challenges our world is facing,” Global Citizen’s svp and head of music, entertainment and artist relations Katie Hill said in a statement.
“We look forward to welcoming Lisa, and of course Lilies and Blinks, to Central Park in September,” Hill added, name-checking the global star’s fanbases.
Lisa recently released her latest solo single, “Rockstar,” at the end of June. The single is the first to come from her recently formed solo partnership with RCA Records. In December 2023, it was announced that Blackpink had renewed their exclusive contracts for group activities with YG Entertainment, however, it was later announced that all four members decided to part ways with the label for solo activities.
In February, Lisa announced the formation of her new company LLOUD, which she described in an Instagram post as a “platform to showcase my vision in music and entertainment.” In April, RCA Records announced that Lisa and LLOUD were entering a partnership with the record label. According to a release from the label, the deal allows Lisa to release new solo music under RCA Records while maintaining full ownership of all her recordings.
Timed to the UN’s General Assembly, which will end just days before the concert, the Global Citizen Festival will “advocate for the equity of all people, calling on governments, philanthropists and the private sector to ensure the basic needs of the world’s marginalized communities are fulfilled, including immunizations and strong health systems, quality education, and nutritious food,” according to a release.
Tickets to the festival are free and can be earned through actions on the Global Citizen app or the festival’s website.
