Blackpool North and Fleetwood is a new constituency for 2024. Tory candidate Paul Maynard has been the MP for the old constituency of Blackpool North and Cleveleys since 2010. But changes to the boundaries - and of course the way people vote - could see a new party in control of the new constituency.

Polling stations opened today from 7am until 10pm and ballot boxes have been in a variety of venues including sports clubs, churches and community centres. Information on the polling card will direct people to where they should go to cast their vote, and everyone must take a form of photo ID with them such as a driving licence or passport.

Sir Keir Starmer is on course to be the UK’s next prime minister as an exit poll indicated a landslide Labour victory. The exit poll suggests Labour is on course for 410 seats with the Tories reduced to 131.

Once polls have closed at 10pm, the votes will be counted and a local MP declared. You can see the result below too once the announcement has been made.
