A business based at the Home of Golf has teed-up support for Scottish internationalists Gregor and Connor Graham.

The Blairgowrie Golf Club’s rising stars are being backed this season by principal sponsors, the Clayton Caravan Park in St Andrews.

Stuart Graham, father of the ambitious Perthshire pair, has welcomed the support from business owner Andrew Kennedy.

“Golf is certainly not a cheap sport when you are supporting two wannabe professionals, so when you have guys like Andrew approach you offering to support and sponsor the boys it’s just fantastic.

“It’s a very generous gesture and much appreciated.”

The duo are also enjoying support from 1999 Open champion Paul Lawrie.

Stuart added: “Paul is playing a major role in encouraging the next generation of golfing talent to break through into the professional ranks and the boys are proud to have a man of his stature in golf on their side.”

The Blairgowrie brothers, who are flying the flag for Scotland at this week’s Men’s European Nations Championship at Sotogrande in Spain, are looking to build on a successful 2023 campaign.

Connor rounded off last season as the No 1 ranked U18 golfer in Europe, and was undefeated representing Europe in the Junior Ryder Cup.

He was also the youngest player ever to play at the Walker Cup, representing GB and Ireland against the USA at St Andrews.

Connor, who heads for Texas Tech on a golf scholarship in August, rewrote the record books when he became the youngest winner of the Scottish Men’s Open Championship and he also won the British Boys and European Team Championship individual qualifying stroke play events.

Older brother Gregor played for Scotland many times last year, helping win the European Team Division Two Championship, and becoming the first amateur and the youngest winner of a Tartan Pro Tour event.

He topped off a memorable season with a fantastic win in the South African Amateur Championship.

Stuart, a director with Graham Environmental Services, said: “Connor and Gregor both have very busy schedules looming this year, travelling and playing throughout the
world.

“They are both eager to build on last season’s successes and continue to work towards their ultimate goals of stepping up to join the pro ranks.”

Andrew commented: “We have been following the boys’ progress for several years now and hopefully the support from the team at Clayton Caravan Park allows Gregor and Connor to focus on taking major steps towards achieving their golfing goals.”
