Blue Bloods will definitely come to an end after its 14th season later this year.

Despite pleas from fans to continue the Tom Selleck-led police procedural following the news that season 14 would be its last, CBS Entertainment President Amy Reisenbach has confirmed there are still no plans to extend the show beyond its series finale this December.

"We love this cast, we love their passion for the show. All shows have to come to an end. It’s important to us to refresh the schedule. We are going to end the show come December," she explained during a press conference this week.

Reisenbach also thanked "everyone involved in the show", adding: "We absolutely will miss the family dinners. It is important to give [the] show the sendoff it deserves."

The first part of Blue Bloods season 14 aired earlier this year, while the second part will return in October and run until its final episode airs in December.

Commenting on the show’s cancellation last year, Selleck said: "For the past 13 years, it has been an honour and a privilege to work on a show that not only celebrates the men and women who protect and serve in New York City, but also displayed the importance of family."

"Thank you to CBS Studios and the CBS network for their steadfast support, and we offer heartfelt gratitude to the fans who gathered with us for dinner every Friday night."

Blue Bloods airs on Sky Witness in the UK and CBS in the US, while all seasons are available to buy on Apple TV+.
