Blueberry Cheerios Have Arrived and They're Here to Stay

Blueberries are the perfect addition to any breakfast, delicious in everything from pancakes to yogurt parfaits. Many people also throw blueberries into their bowls of cereal, and General Mills took notice, releasing Blueberry Cheerios as a new permanent flavor just in time for spring.

Packed in a bright blue box, Blueberry Cheerios will start hitting shelves at major retailers nationwide this week, costing consumers $3.99.

The cereal contains 14g of whole grains per serving, and is actually made using a real blueberry puree—no artificial flavors or colors. Cereal lovers with food allergies will also be happy to hear that the product is completely gluten-free.

Are you excited for this fruity spin on the classic? Cheerios isn’t the first brand to go all out with their cereal spin-offs in the past year. In December, General Mills debuted a sugary new Cinnamon Toast Crunch Churros cereal; in January, two Hostess-inspired cereals—Hostess Donettes Cereal and Hostess Honey Bun Cereal—hit shelves thanks to a partnership between Post and Hostess; and in March, Post drove the Internet wild by selling Honey Bunches of Oats Chicken & Waffles-flavored cereal at Walmart.

The breakfast gods have spoken—we all need to eat more cereal.
