Blyth Live Festival saw two women from Australia travel 11,000 miles to see the Lindisfarne Story Band perform. Carol King and Teresa Race came all the way from their homes just outside of Sydney.
The Aussie duo were amongst the 8,000 people who attended the festival, after seeing the free concert being advertised by Blyth Town Council online. The lifelong Lindisfarne fans then decided to make the 22,000 mile round trip in order to attend, as well as enjoying a holiday in the process.
Teresa, originally from Forest Hall, and Carol. from Denton Burn, left the UK over 40 years ago to start their new lives down under. After witnessing the show, the two were able to meet two members of the Lindisfarne Story Band, Billy Mitchell and Ray Laidlaw.

Carol said: "It was a great day out and worth travelling across the globe for. It was wonderful to meet Ray and Billy afterwards, and it has created lasting memories for us both."
As well as the North East favourites' headline performance, spectators were entertained by a host of acts, such as; by Martin Stephenson and the Dainties, Fleeting Rumours, Brit Pack, FAB, North East Street Band, Bootleg Eagles. There was also several talented groups and entertainers from Blyth itself, including Rula and Kewen and the Tall Ship Shanty Singers.
Blyth Town Council Mayor Aileen Barrass added: "The weather was a bit overcast, but everyone came with happy hearts. It’s great to see people coming into the town. We have a lot to offer, and I’ve loved listening to the talent on show.
On top of the musical attractions, the festival had street theatre, stalls, superb food, and a family activity area including a fun fair which kept all ages entertained. The event was sponsored by Phoenix Taxis, The Co-op and Blyth based Frisk Radio.
