Boat Transporting Almost 200 Tons of Food Nears Gaza

A boat pulling a barge laden with around 200 tons of food was seen nearing Gaza on March 14, two days after embarking from Cyprus.

The US charity World Central Kitchen said they were “working to send as many boats as possible”, with the first shipment being pulled by a rescue vessel from the Spanish organization Open Arms.

Israel’s Coordinator of Government Activities in the Territories (COGAT) said the aid delivery was being facilitated after “all the equipment on the ship underwent a security check”. COGAT said Israeli officials were present “to ensure that humanitarian aid alone reaches the Gaza Strip.” Credit: COGAT via Storyful
