Ziggy Marley is developing a biopic on his father Bob Marley.

Alongside Paramount Pictures, musician and producer Ziggy is taking on the film about his iconic dad, who died at the age of 36 (via Deadline).

Ziggy previously produced the video Bob Marley & The Wailers: Easy Skanking in Boston '78 and was an executive producer on documentaries Bob Marley Legend Remixed, Marley, and Marley Africa Roadtrip.

He has also guest starred on TV shows, including Charmed and Hawaii Five-O, and won Best Reggae Album at the 2017 Grammys – as well as seven other Grammys.

Bob Marley died on May 11, 1981 in Miami at the age of 36. He is credited with popularising reggae music around the world and is associated with Jamaican culture and identity.

One of the best-selling artists of all time, Marley sold more than 75 million records.

Back in 2014, some of Marley's most iconic songs, including 'No Woman, No Cry', became embroiled in a copyright dispute.

Publisher Cayman Music was suing Blue Mountain Music in an attempt to reclaim the rights to a collection of Marley's tracks.

'Crazy Baldhead', 'Johnny Was', 'Natty Dread', 'Positive Vibration', 'Rat Race', 'Rebel Music (Road Block)', 'Talking Blues', 'Them Belly Full', 'Want More', 'War', 'Who the Cap Fit' and 'So Jah She' were all also under dispute.

However, a judge ruled that Cayman had no rights to the tracks because "Marley did not publicly describe himself as the author".
