Plot details are currently under wraps for Nobody 2, with director Ilya Naishuller’s initial film focusing on Odenkirk as family man Hutch Mansell, who picks up his former life as an assassin after he and his loved ones are targeted by a crime boss. Nobody was released theatrically in March 2021 and collected more than $57 million at the global box office.

Serving as producers on Nobody 2 are Kelly McCormick and David Leitch for 87North, in addition to Odenkirk and Marc Provissiero for Odenkirk Provissiero Entertainment and Braden Aftergood for Eighty Two Films. Jay Polidoro and Tony Ducret are overseeing the sequel on behalf of Universal.

Tjahjanto is known for his work on the V/H/S horror film franchise and has also helmed the Netflix-released Indonesian features The Night Comes for Us (2016), May the Devil Take You (2018) and The Big 4 (2022). He is represented by WME, Entertainment 360 and attorney Marios Rush.

Other projects for Odenkirk, who is known for portraying Saul Goodman on Breaking Bad and Better Call Saul, include the action title Normal, which will see him collaborate with writer Kolstad and is set to begin production in the fall.

Kolstad, who wrote the first Nobody, is known as the creator of the John Wick franchise and is represented by UTA, Circle Management + Production and Behr Abramson. Rabin served as a co-executive producer on Amazon’s Jack Ryan and is repped by Grandview, CAA and Gendler Kelly. Aleem wrote the 2021 Netflix thriller Kate and is repped by Verve and attorney Rush.

In his review for THR, critic John DeFore wrote that Nobody is “more fun than most” projects of a similar ilk and “satisfying enough that it could spawn sequels.”

Deadline was first to report the news of Tjahjanto’s involvement with Nobody 2.
