Bodies of Tsunami Victims Recovered From Beach in Western Java

Authorities recovered bodies along the shoreline of western Java, Indonesia, on December 23, after a fatal tsunami swept the area.

The tsunami, believed to have been caused by an underwater landslide triggered by a volcanic eruption on the Krakatoa island chain, killed at least 222 people, Sutopo Purwo Nugroho, spokesman of Indonesia’s Disaster Management Agency, said.
