Police are investigating after two pensioners died unexpectedly at a home.

Officers were alerted to the discovery of two bodies at a property on Park Crescent, in Darlington, shortly before 5.30pm on Friday, May 17. Police have confirmed the deaths of the 86-year-old man and 84-year-old woman are being treated as unexpected.

Durham Constabulary has launched an investigation and say there is believed to be no third party involvement and family of the deceased have been informed.

Detective Superintendent Andy Reynolds, of Durham Constabulary, said: “The family have been informed and are being supported by officers. Our thoughts are with them during this difficult time. I would also like to reassure the community that, although our enquiries continue to determine the circumstances leading to the deaths, we believe this is an isolated incident and there is no third-party involvement. We are trying to piece together their movements in recent days. We are appealing to anyone who has not already come forward who may have seen them between Thursday, May 9 and Friday, May 17 to get in touch with us.”

Pictures seen by Teesside Live show crime scene investigators probing the scene and a police van parked outside a semi-detached home. Anyone with any information is asked to call the force on 101, quoting incident reference 312 of 17 May.
