Body found in Lanarkshire in search for missing Edinburgh man Robert Dickson

A body has been found in Lanarkshire during a search for a missing Edinburgh man.

On Sunday, May 5, at around 4.35pm the body of a man was discovered in a wooded area near Forth in Lanarkshire. Police have informed the family of Robert Dickson who was reported missing from Edinburgh over the weekend.

The 35-year-old was last seen on Halmyre Street at around 12.30pm on Saturday, May 4, with police 'concerned' for his welfare.

Robert reportedly had access to a red Vauxhall Corsa which officers tried to trace as the search progressed.

Police Scotland say formal identification is yet to take place and a report has been submitted to the Procurator Fiscal.

There are no suspicious circumstances surround the death.

Police Scotland's statement reads: "Around 4.35pm on Sunday 5 May 2024, the body of a man was discovered in a wooded area near Forth in Lanarkshire.

"Formal identification is still to take place however the family of Robert Dickson, who had been reported missing from Edinburgh, have been informed.

"There are no suspicious circumstances and a report will be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal."
