Body found in river identified as missing Loughborough woman

A body found in a Leicestershire river has been identified as a missing Loughborough woman. Leicestershire Police said today (Tuesday, May 21), that the body found in the River Soar in the hamlet of Zouch, was 51-year-old Marie Wan.

The force said following a call received shortly before 1pm on Sunday, April 28, police were to called to the river, where a body was found. Formal identification has since revealed that the body was Mrs Wan.

Mrs Wan had been reported missing to police after last being seen in the Loughborough area on Wednesday, March 13. A missing person investigation was launched and a number of public appeals were made to help find her.

The force said the cause of her death is not being treated as suspicious and full support is being provided to her family. It said a file is being prepared for HM Coroner.

It thanked everyone who helped with its appeals to find Mrs Wan and who provided the force information. It also said the family and friends of Mrs Wan have extended their thanks to officers involved in the investigation as well as to members of the public who helped in the search.
