Body of a man has been found on Eryri mountain

A body has been found on an Eryri (Snowdonia) mountain. A report was received that what looked like a person's body was seen on Pen Yr Ole Wen.

It was part of ongoing search for a missing walker David Brookfield. The Ogwen Valley Mountain Rescue Team were tasked.

They carried out a search on foot of the area on Friday. The team found the body of a man and recovered him from the mountain. No identity has been confirmed at this stage. Read more: Wales tourism tax, What we know so far about visitor levy, from when it's coming in to who will pay

The Ogwen Valley team said: "Callout 64: 10 May - Pen Yr Ole Wen. On Thursday, as part of the ongoing search for a missing walker, Maritime and Coastguard Agency R936 reported what they thought was a person on the south western side of Pen Yr Ole Wen.

"On Friday, team members carried out a foot search and found the body of a man and recovered him from the mountain."

David Brookfield, known to family members at Dave, has been missing from the Carneddau area of Eryri since January 9. He texted his wife Lesley from the top of Carnedd Llewelyn. No further contact was received.
