Bono Sports a Towel and a Rosary on Shirtless Yacht Outing in Saint-Tropez

The U2 frontman is vacationing in a celeb-favorite hotspot in the South of France

Bono enjoyed a sun-soaked day aboard his yacht in Saint-Tropez this week.

The U2 frontman enjoyed a shirtless cup of coffee on Thursday from the deck of the luxury vessel, sporting a towel wrapped around his waist, rosary beads around his neck and a pair of red-tinted sunglasses.

Bono, 64, chose a favorite summer destination of celebs for his day of leisure. Saint Tropez and its exclusive beach clubs and restaurants regularly host the likes of Leonardo DiCaprio, Tobey Maguire, (who were spotted leaping off a yacht of their own last summer), Jeff Bezos and Lauren Sanchez, Steve Harvey, Sean Penn and Jerry Seinfeld.

Bono was also seen at Spotify Beach at Cannes Lions in the South of France Tuesday night, according to Page Six, Other A-list attendees included Queen Latifah and Jared Leto, who reportedly ran upstairs to greet Bono and chat.

In 2016, Billboard reported that the 160-foot superyacht Cyan, owned by Bono and his U2 bandmate The Edge, featured an ­outdoor movie theater and a baby grand piano. At the time, it could be chartered for $200,000 a week.

The two U2 icons looked back on their careers and friendship in a March 2023 documentary, titled Bono & The Edge: A Sort of Homecoming with Dave Letterman.

The film premiered on Disney+ on the same day that the band's Songs of Surrender album ― a collection of 40 re-recorded and reimagined songs spanning their catalog — was released.

“The thing I don’t like about Edge is that he doesn’t need me,” Bono says during a Dublin concert shown in the film, per Billboard. “He could be doing all of this, writing, singing, performing, playing, producing on his own. But he doesn’t,” Bono shared, looking at his old pal.

“Because it’s not as much fun,” The Edge replies.

Bono adds, tearfully, “Your best friends are the ones that you can have the best arguments with. I’ve got pretty much the best argument you could ever find right here. I would trust the Edge with my life. In fact, I have trusted him with my life.”
