A New Book About “Ted Lasso” Is on Its Way — See the Cover! (Exclusive)
The new book from journalist Jeremy Egner details the rise of the Emmy Award-winning series
There’s another win in store for Ted Lasso fans, in the form of a new book.
Written by New York Times television editor Jeremy Egner, Believe: The Untold Story Behind Ted Lasso, The Show That Kicked Its Way into Our Hearts, is a new account and celebration of the acclaimed Apple TV+ series. The book is forthcoming from Dutton this fall, and PEOPLE has an exclusive first look at the cover.
"Ted Lasso began life as a soccer ad and went on to become a pop culture phenomenon that arrived when the world needed it most,” Egner tells PEOPLE. “As a culture journalist, I wanted to understand exactly how that happened.”
Ted Lasso stars Jason Sudeikis as its titular character — an American sports coach who is hired to coach the English football team AFC Richmond. The feel-good series also stars Hannah Waddingham, Brett Goldstein and Phil Dunster.
The comedy series took home 11 Emmy Awards and two Golden Globe Awards, among others, since its initial premiere in 2020. Believe will serve as the perfect companion for fans looking for more Ted Lasso-isms in their life after the show's third and final season aired in 2023.

Believe draws on interviews with the show’s cast and creators, and chronicles the show’s history, from its beginnings as a commercial for NBC’s Premier League to its initial pitch for executives at Apple, per the book's description. The book will also offer intel into the casting process and dish on those “unforgettable” locations used in the show.
Through it all, Egner stays true to his journalistic roots, looking at Ted Lasso through the lens of a cultural critic. Believe is made for the fans of the show rooted in teamwork and bringing people together, according to the author.

“It turns out the unlikely story of [Ted Lasso’s] rise is as fascinating, and as heartwarming, as the show itself,” Egner says.
