CHILDREN at a Northwich school for those with special needs can now look forward to 'enhanced educational opportunities' after it joined a new education trust.

The Russett School in Weaverham has announced it has officially joined the Shaw Education Trust, a multi-academy trust overseeing more than 30 schools across the North West and the Midlands.

This follows the news the Middlehurst Avenue academy maintained its 'outstanding' Ofsted rating - something it has done for the past decade.

Described as a 'strategic move', joining the Shaw Education Trust will allow students and staff at The Russett School access to further resources.

Executive head teacher Emma Leach is enthusiastic for the partnership and highlighted 'the potential for enhanced educational opportunities, access to valuable resources, and professional development for staff'.

Mrs Leach also emphasised the school's 'commitment to nurturing a supportive learning environment where every child can thrive'.

The school had been run by the Russett Learning Trust, however this has now ceased to exist following the announcement of the new partnership.

Jo Morgan, the CEO of the Shaw Education Trust, welcomed The Russett School into its fold, noting the 'alignment of values and commitment to fostering a nurturing school community'.

She added: "The partnership aims to empower students to excel academically and personally by combining expertise and resources."

A trust spokeswoman added: "The Shaw Education Trust is known for its dedication to providing high-quality education and supporting member schools in achieving academic excellence.

"With The Russett School joining the trust, both organisations are set to benefit from shared knowledge, resources, and best practices.

"Parents and guardians can expect a seamless transition, with The Russett School continuing to operate as usual while integrating new support systems and resources provided by the Shaw Education Trust.

"The partnership also opens up opportunities for community engagement and collaboration, allowing The Russett School to participate in trust-wide initiatives and events.

"This collaboration marks an exciting new chapter for The Russett School and its community, reinforcing the shared commitment to providing the best possible education for every child."
