However, disruption from delayed shipments due to travel through the Red Sea, weaker UK high street footfall and wage hikes from April could all pose a challenge to the firm's recent progress. Shares in the company, which also owns large grocery and agriculture operations, have lifted by about a quarter over the past 12 months. Issue date: Sunday January 21, 2024. PA Photo. The early May bank holiday has arrived, meaning many Brits up and down the country will be enjoying a long weekend. With that said many high street shops will be open for people to go about their plans.

Unlike the Easter weekend, shops will remain open for normal operating hours on Saturday, May 4 and Sunday, May 5. However a number of retailers have indicated that each branch may be open at different times on Monday, May 6.

Many stores have advised the public to check times for specific stores on their website, in case regular opening hours have changed. Times may also change depending on location, for example if a shop is located in a shopping centre with its own operating hours.

Boots

Boots opening hours vary from store to store, so the pharmacy chain recommends checking ahead to see if your local branch is open. This can be for one of its usual stores or a specific Boots pharmacy store.

Boots stores are typically open from as early as 7am and some close as late as 10pm. Some branches may have different operating hours for Monday, May 6. You can check its store finder here for details about your local Boots.

River Island

River Island stores are expected to be open on Monday, May 6. However operating times will vary depending on their locations, including if they’re in a shopping centre. You can find details of your local River Island store here.

New Look

New Look say its stores have updated opening times for the May bank holiday online. Shoppers can check via New Look's store finder.

H&M

H&M has confirmed that stores will be open on bank holiday Monday. Many branches typically open at 9am Monday to Saturday, and 11am on Sundays.

Closing times are usually around 7pm. However, it advised that customers check its Store Locator for specific opening hours on Monday, May 6.

Primark

Primark has confirmed that its store locator has been updated to reflect the May bank holiday operating hour, which will vary from shop to shop. Customers will be able to find their local Primark branch on its Stores Page.

A Primark spokesperson said: “Opening hours for the May Bank Holiday Weekend may vary according to store. Customers can check the opening hours of their local store on our website to avoid any disappointment: https://www.primark.com/en-gb/stores.”

Zara

Zara stores tend to open between 9am and 9.30pm depending on the location. It’s advised shoppers should check their local branch before their visit, as operating hours may vary.
