A boujee new bar has opened in an up-and-coming town centre and is the perfect place to snap photos for Instagram. Bench Bistro Bar, owned by chef Richard Shaw, has opened its doors in Lawton Street in Congleton, after its unquestionable success at its Nantwich branch.

The cocktail bar serves up a range of tasty dishes on cute mini benches. Some of the food on offer includes dirty mac ‘n’ cheese, buckets of chicken wings, treacle chips and cheesy mushroom risotto balls.

Afternoon tea is also an option and can be preordered on the website, offering tea or coffee, or prosecco or a cocktail between midday to 6pm. The cocktail menu includes sharing benches or a pick ‘n’ mix, with an extensive list of variations including a Jamaican fruit punch, creme brulee and ‘tipsy teapots’, as well as traditional cocktails such as espresso martinis and amaretto sours.

General manager, Liv Macdonald, said: “We’re feeling really positive that the business will do well in Congleton. We’re hoping it’ll be a really busy weekend. We’ve got lots of tables both inside and outside, as well as parking for customers.

“We have 15 members of staff and we’re still hiring, as we think we’ll be really busy during the summer months. We also offer loyalty cards and discounts for businesses who want to treat their employees.

“Our cocktails are two for £12 during weekdays, and you can get two dishes for £8 or three dishes for £12 during weekdays too. We’re looking forward to welcoming customers and hearing what they think. Everyone loves to show off a bit on social media when they go out these days, so we’ve incorporated all the floral walls and decor to make it Instagrammable.”

Bench Bar Bistro is open on Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays from midday until 10pm, on Fridays and Saturdays from midday until midnight, and on Sundays from midday until 8pm, however these times may change in the future. Food is served from midday until 8pm from Monday to Saturday, and on Sunday from midday until 5pm.
