Bournemouth boss Andoni Iraola will be without five players for Sunday’s trip to Aston Villa – one that pits the Cherries against a team that is currently operating on ‘another level’.

Iraola is a huge admirer of Unai Emery, who guided his side to the semi-finals of the Europa Conference League and fourth place in the Premier League – and hopes to have Antoine Semenyo available for the trip to Villa Park. The striker missed the draw at Man Utd after picking up a calf injury.

However, Marcus Tavernier (hamstring) is still out, while winger Luis Sinisterra could have played his last game this term after sustaining a thigh strain. Ryan Fredericks is still struggling for fitness, as is Tyler Adams who has a back problem and Chris Mepham who is ill.

Iraola knows that will make a difficult task all the more demanding. “They are in another level I would say,” he said. “They are fighting to qualify for the Champions League. Their season has been, for me, amazing.

“They have a very good team, a manager that I rate very highly and it’s going to be a difficult, very difficult, game for us because they are, especially at home, really, really strong. We will have to be at our best if we want to have any chance.”

They will also have to be more clinical in front of goal with Iraola claiming his side should have done better than a 2-2 draw against Utd. “I think we played really well the other day. I think we deserved probably to win the game, but it’s true that we didn’t.

“And at the end of the season, more than the performances, you want the points because you don’t have time to recover the points you lose and we have to find ways to win these kind of games where we are better, we have more chances, because it’s the Premier League.

“It’s not easy when the opponent is better than you, create more chances. Normally you lose games. So we have to find the way to be more ruthless and to take our chances and don’t give them the chance to come back into the games. It happened the other day.”
