Boutique where you can sell pre-loved items to open in Crewkerne

A boutique where you can sell your pre-loved items for cash is set to open in Crewkerne next month. Le Tutti - Italian for 'everbody, everyone' - will open on Saturday, May 11 and will allow people to buy and sell second-hand items.

Le Tutti owner Dawn, 52, explained the inspiration for the name of the business: "My family nickname is Totty. I was born in Scotland and before I was born my mum had a dream where I popped out and she said 'oh, you're a totty little thing, aren't you?'.

"The nickname stuck, and I did think of calling the boutique Totty but then I thought 'nah!'. A friend of mine- Georgina- she came up with Le Tutti, it's Italian for 'everybody, everyone', and I thought it was very apt."

Every Tuesday, customers will be able to bring in their pre-loved items and either sell them or give their fee to charity. Handbags, shoes, jewellery, perfumes, and other accessories will sell at £1 a kilo, toys at 30p a kilo, bric-a-brac at 10p a kilo, and books at 5p a kilo.

Dawn is a familiar face in Crewkerne, having worked at several local charity shops including St Margaret's Hospice and The Children's Society. Despite all her experience, this is her first business: "I'm excited, I'm scared, terrified if truth be told!

"You wake up in the middle of the night and you think, 'I'm 52 and I'm doing this now, why didn't I do this 20 years ago?'."

Dawn's business savvy runs in the family. Her parents ran a successful shop in Crewkerne for over twenty years: "My mum and step-dad opened up a shop back called Preston Frames in '86 or '87, and it's actually in the same precinct.

"They had to convince the landlord that it was a viable business and that it would do really well, and I think they were there for twenty odd years doing picture framing and artist materials. I worked for them from the age of 16 on and off."

Now, Dawn is ready to mark her own mark on Crewkerne. Le Tutti will open for business on Saturday, May 11 at 9am at The George Shopping Centre.

People selling their items are allowed to give their fee to a chosen charity. This month it will be St Margaret's Hospice.
