Boy, 16, charged with Christmas Eve murder of woman stabbed to death in Bermondsey

A 16-year-old boy is appearing in court on Thursday charged with murder after a woman was stabbed to death on Christmas Eve at a flat in Bermondsey.

Kacey Clarke, 22, was found with a stab wound at Spenlow House on Jamaica Road just after 10pm on Sunday December 24.

Metropolitan Police officers attended along with paramedics from the London Ambulance Service and London's Air Ambulance.

They provided emergency first aid to the woman, however she died at the scene.

A post-mortem examination gave cause of death as a single sharp force trauma to the chest.

An investigation was launched and a 16-year-old boy, who is known to the victim, was arrested nearby a short time later on suspicion of murder.

Detectives from the Met's Specialist Crime Command are leading the investigation.

The Met said on Thursday: "The victim has now been named by officers as Kacey Clarke.

"Her family are aware and continue to be supported by specially trained officers. They have asked that their privacy is respected at this very difficult time."

The boy is due to appear at Croydon Magistrates’ Court on Thursday morning.
