Boy, 17, arrested after incident at Island holiday park

A 17-year-old has been arrested on suspicion of being in possession of an offensive weapon, following an incident at an Isle of Wight holiday park.

Hampshire and Isle of Wight Constabulary officers were called to Thorness Bay yesterday evening (Friday).

Police say they attended reports of a public order incident.

A boy from Bedford was arrested on suspicion of being in possession of an offensive weapon in a public place.

He has been released under investigation, officers said.

Meanwhile, as many as 150 bikers were at the site last night, Thorness staff said.

Workers told the County Press there was no trouble, but the bikers were refusing to leave and earlier in the day, had completely blocked Thorness Lane.

One of the bikers said because they couldn't enter the site, a queue formed, and blocking the road was not intentional.

Thorness staff said the bikers tried booking as individuals but needed to book as a group.

Police and the bikers left just after 9pm.

The County Press has approached Parkdean Resorts, which runs the site, for comment.
