Boy, 18, let go as trouble erupts at Central Forest Park and armed police called

Police are taking no action against an 18-year-old suspect arrested after violence broke out in one of Stoke-on-Trent's biggest parks. Staffordshire Police made the arrest after armed officers were deployed to Central Forest Park.

But police have now confirmed the suspect - who was arrested on suspicion of assault by beating - has now been released with no further action. A 17-year-old arrested in the same incident has been bailed.

A police spokesman said: "The 18-year-old has been released with no further action and the 17-year-old has been released under investigation pending further enquiries."

The trouble erupted at around 7pm on Wednesday, June 26. It followed reports of a 20-strong gang, two girls being attacked, and troublemakers armed with knives and knuckle-dusters.

Police are appealing for witnesses. Any witnesses can call the police on 101, quoting incident number 733 of June 26, or call Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555111.
