Boy hurt after being hit by car at busy Kingstanding junction

A boy has been hurt after a crash between a car and a pedestrian in Kingstanding this afternoon. The child was walking in the area when he was struck at the junction of Hawthorn Road.

Emergency services were alerted to the collision just before 4.15pm today (Thursday, May 16). Images show an ambulance parked where Hawthorn Road meets Dyas Road and Warren Farm Road following the incident.

They boy, whose age has not been disclosed, was found injured as two ambulances and a paramedic officer arrived on scene. His injuries are fortunately "not believed to be serious," according to West Midlands Ambulance Service.

He was taken to Good Hope Hospital for further assessment. The driver of the car involved was discharged at the scene after being assessed by medics.

A spokesman for the service said: "We were called to reports of a collision between a car and pedestrian at the junction of Hawthorn Road, Dyas Road and Warren Farm Road at 4.14pm, two ambulances and a paramedic officer attended the scene.

"On arrival we discovered the pedestrian, a boy, required treatment for injuries not believed to be serious. He was then taken to Good Hope Hospital for further assessment.

"The driver of the car was assessed and discharged at the scene." West Midlands Police have been contacted by BirminghamLive for further information.
