Boy killed by father in hunting accident

A nine-year-old boy was accidentally killed by his father while hunting in South Carolina on the American holiday of Thanksgiving.

Colton Williams was fatally shot on Thursday in Springfield in Orangeburg County, according to local news reports.

The South Carolina Department of Natural Resources says relatives told investigators that Williams was out rabbit hunting with his dad and a family friend when the tragic incident occurred.

Colton was a student at Kelly Edwards Elementary School.

"It is with great sadness that we share news of the passing of one of our beloved fourth grade scholars, Colton Williams," The Willison School District wrote in a Facebook post.
