The Boy Scouts of America is officially changing its name.

The 114-year-old organization announced on Tuesday, May 7 that it is rebranding as Scouting America to reflect “years of work to create a more inclusive organization for all."

It has been five years since girls were first accepted into the Scouts’ core program. Now, more than 176,000 girls and young women are currently enrolled across all BSA programs.

The official transition will take place on February 8, 2025, “coinciding with the organization’s 115th birthday," according to a news release obtained by PEOPLE.

“The move to Scouting America showcases a commitment to represent the next chapter of Scouting,” the organization said in its news release.

As Scouting America, the organization’s main mission is still “to prepare young people to make ethical and moral choices throughout their lives by instilling the timeless values of the Scout Oath and Law.”

More than one million children are currently part of the organization, which was founded in 1910.

The name change is just the latest move to enhance inclusivity within the organization in recent years. In 2013, the organization began allowing gay youth to participate and gay adult leaders were permitted beginning in 2015, according to the Associated Press.

In 2017, the organization announced girls would soon be allowed to join. That same year, the organization also announced transgender children would be allowed to join as well.
